See you there!

The installation must have been installed on the old UK Feed-in-Tariff (prior to 12th December 2011 cuts). We will buy the installed systems at a profit, providing you with free power, in exchange for the FIT income.

We are interested in nice south facing roofs and the further south you are positioned, the more we will be willing to pay.

MAP Quality Control voices concern for the UK Government’s proposed drop in Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) for solar photovoltaics (PV).

Having reviewed the Government’s consultation paper on the FIT (Phase 1 – Tariffs for Solar PV), MAP Quality Control (MAP QC) warns that although it understands that the tariff needs to be reduced to ensure that the Government’s budget remains sustainable, it feels the proposed drop from 43.3p to 21p per watt for a domestic installation is too extreme. The impact that MAP QC envisages is that after 12 December 2011, when the current generation tariffs end in their existing setup, the market will become price-sensitive.

“We are really concerned that the proposed drop in Feed-in-Tariffs are drastic and will affect the quality of the PV panels as the cost of manufacturing becomes the main focus. Ultimately it will be the consumer that will be affected by this as some of the solar PV modules will be substandard.” comments Pete Zarins, Commercial Director of MAP QC.

Overall there will be a drive to lower costs across the solar power industry argues MAP QC. This will result in corners being cut and therefore will have an impact on quality control. MAP QC envisages that in the New Year issues will begin to emerge with solar PV panels operating at either a substandard level or in some cases not at all. Unfortunately it will be the consumer that will be the victim of this price sensitivity in the chain.

MAP Quality Control, a sister company of MAP Environmental, is a leading expert in the assessment and quality control of renewable energy technologies. MAP QC is a British company established and operating in Shanghai, China. The company’s remit is to ensure that all renewable energy technologies, such as solar PV, are of the highest standard before leaving the manufacturer and shipped to MAP QC’s customers.

ZNSHINE panels used at ‘The Sigma Home’ at BRE

Written by Karla

ZNSHINE PV modules in conjunction with a number of other renewable technologies have just been installed in The Sigma Home, one of BRE’s latest sustainable homes.

Rexel Energy Solutions, MAP Environmental’s distribution partner, was seeking a suitable venue to showcase its innovative products and services in conjunction with its key suppliers. The BRE Innovation Park in Watford provided an ideal environment in which to exhibit energy efficient products in a live situation. Formerly a governmental research centre, the BRE is home to world leading expert teams in built environment research and innovation, and provides consultancy, certification and testing services for organisations across the UK.

Housed in the Park are a number of ‘homes’ used for research and development, and ‘The Sigma Home’ was selected by Rexel Energy Solutions in partnership with the house-builder, Stewart Milne Group.

‘We are proud to present our quality products in conjunction with our suppliers, and the Rexel Energy Solutions team look forward to using this unique environment to demonstrate the scope of our ability in bringing unrivalled energy efficiencies to the organisation’, says Brian Smithers, Business Development Director for Rexel UK and Ireland.

Rexel Energy Solutions in partnership with the Stewart Milne Group

Rexel Energy Solutions and The Stewart Milne Group jointed in partnership to present The Sigma Home, which showcases the latest technological advances in sustainable and energy-efficient products and building methods.

With a shared vision to help customers achieve their energy and cost reduction targets by providing the most innovative solutions, the partnership demonstrates via the property construction and installation of energy-efficient products, how a significant and measurable impact on the carbon footprint and energy bills of the potential homeowner can be achieved.

The home actually comprises two separate dwellings:

The unfurnished home provides technical detail on the products displayed in the home, and reveals key elements of the building’s construction that contribute to the overall energy efficiency.

The furnished home shows the products working in situ, to demonstrate how they perform in a ‘real life’ environment, and how the building design meets the lifestyle needs of the home-owner.

An evolving project

The Sigma Home will be an evolving project, and will be constantly updated to present the latest in technological advances. It is the intention that Rexel Energy Solutions and The Stewart Milne Group will share data from research and analysis conducted on the site and use to achieve further advancements in energy solutions.

What is featured in the Sigma Home?

The first home in the UK designed to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 5, it benefits from modern methods of Construction with closed panel timber frame construction at its heart.

In partnership with Rexel Energy Solutions, the Sigma Home features innovative sustainable technologies including: lighting, air-source heating, building controls, voltage optimisation, PV solar and electric car charging.

The Sigma Home was occupancy tested by a local family who lived in it for 2 weeks each season over a year. The findings from the project were used to evolve the future home designs of The Stewart Milne Group.

ZNSHINE panels were installed on the Sigma Home. Exclusive to MAP Environmental and Rexel Energy Solutions, ZNSHINE was recently ranked first for yield output according to PHOTON Laboratory’s field test. Its unique Gallium Cell Technology increases the lifespan of its panels and reduces the rate that its cells deteriorate over time. ZNSHINE panels are insurance-backed and come with a warranty promising 95% efficiency over 12 years and 90% efficiency over 25 years. ZNSHINE panels are fully MCS/BBA approved.

MAP Environmental, leading Solar Photovoltaic (PV) distributor in the UK, is pleased to announce that its ZN Shine solar panels have ranked the highest for yield output out of all mono- and poly-crystalline panels tested in PHOTON Laboratory’s field assessment. One of the most important factors for operators is the yield of a panel.

ZN Shine’s solar panels were tested over the course of 2010 with 116 other solar panel brands. The solar panels were measured for yield output in “real-world” conditions; three units of each model were installed in an open field, free from shadowing, facing south at a 28˚ angle. PHOTON Lab’s proprietary devices take second-by-second measurements of the IV curve for each module and also capture other important values such as global irradiation, as well as module and air temperature.

German based company, PHOTON Lab, has been conducting these tests since 2005. In the latest PHOTON test, ZN Shine’s panel was ranked one of the best performers among a strong selection of international products. ZN Shine is placed second out of all panels tested for yield output and achieved first overall for mono-crystalline panels assessed.

ZN Shine solar panels contain Gallium Cell Technology. This unique and revolutionary technology increases the lifespan of panels and reduces the rate that the cells deteriorate over time. Consequently, ZN Shine panels offer 95% efficiency over 12 years and 90% efficiency over 25 years. This sets ZN Shine apart from its competitors who offer on average 80% efficiency over 25 years.

ZN Shine’s research and development team, consisting of 50 members strong (3 with doctorates, 15 with master degrees and 10 professional system integration engineers), are actively designing and testing new and innovative products enabling ZN Shine to remain at the forefront of PV technology.

All ZN Shine panels are MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) and BBA (British Board of Agrément) approved. The panels are insured by AAA-backed insurance companies: Zurich Insurance, Solar Insurance and Finance, and Shanghai SP Insurance Brokers and come equipped with the best warranties available on the marketplace.
